Day two on the Oak Ridges Trail- Warkworth to Grant road

Started in the burg of Warkworth today and shops were just opening and cleaning up from the Lilac festival that happened on the weekend. The Oak ridges Trail ends here on the main street so I decided to start here today. If you knew me you would understand why.

The trail winds it's way up the hill and over the river fringed with Lilacs.

Here is a shot  of the colourful homes and great architecture in Warkworth. The Yellow Bordello. No kidding!

Here is a small bog at the side of the road..a great rest stop to catch your breath for the hills that are to come.. lots of croaking going on from a swamp full of toads.
Long slow climb to the cemetery.
Some real history here and some intersting story's to be told. here is just one...

died just aged thirteen..
heading back and the day starts to clear.
Another side trail that looks inviting. Mike Clark related that this is another great trail to explore..maybe on another day.

Taking a break for Skylar..ok me..
Heading back to town.

 First Iris of the year

light at the end of the tunnel.

Back to the car ..a short walk  but around every corner was something new. In our lifetime we will only see the budding and unfolding of certain plants approximately 60 or seventy times if you are awake and really aware. I am out here to remind myself of that.
